It's now been five days since the IMOCA fleet set sail from Les Sables d'Olonne, and already the leading boats are approaching the Canary Islands.
After a calm start, the fleet navigated a turbulent passage past Cape Finisterre, with a new distance record set by Nicolas Lunven. No time for boredom among the 40 participants! Pierre Le Roy, boat captain and co-skipper of Team Monnoyeur-Duo for a Job, reflects on these initial days at sea and shares his outlook for the rest of the race.
